There have been a few key elements that have been super definitive of my fall style this season:
  • Texture (Does it look like it feels cool? Fuzzy is the new black)
  • Proportion (Unexpected shapes makes outfits interesting)
  • Athluxe (A word I learned in fashion school that means making gym clothes chic)
  • Turtlenecks (10 y.o. me would be mortified)
Neutrals (Sometimes when I’m feeling crazy I wear taupe)
As we transition into the most frigid part of the year my layering holds promise of being even MORE unflattering than the 3 jacket minimum I’ve already started to employ.

Throwback

Throwback

Recently I’ve been wearing a lot of things that 10-year-old me would go crazy for, so I thought I’d bring a little of that spice to the blog.

One of my favorite recurring fall trends is how playful proportions are getting. Shapes are juxtaposing to create interesting silhouettes and texture is making just as much of a statement as a graphic print.

What are you loving this fall? Also, can someone buy me those platforms?

I’ve been on the hunt for home-inspo ever since the new apartment hunt has gotten more serious. I’m dying to find some antique Eames chairs, some innovative shelving solutions, and all the indoor green plants.

As far as the new place goes? I’m aiming for something with more natural light. And something with more of a downstairs that is a pizza restaurant.

Where do you get your best home inspo/decor?

For When it Rains | Monday Playlist 10.13

forwhenitrains

The rainy seasons is upon us in Seattle, and for most people that means the onset of seasonal depression and general loneliness. For me? It’s soup time. Also, I just got a new raincoat and things are about to go from soggy to sassy. Strut through those monday morning rain sprinkles, miss thang.

I’ve got a lot to rave about this week (brace yourselves, posts are actually coming), but on the music front I’ve been obsessed with a few albums: 1) Halfnoise | Volcano Crowe, 2) Childish Gambino | Kauai, and 3) The Preatures | Blue Planet Eyes. Those are the albums I’ve had on loop. There’s a lot of variety genre wise, and you can ride that music wave allll through the week.

This weeks playlist is 100% inspired by the fact that fog and mist are about to be a part of every day of my life for the next few months. Might as well make the most of it, right?

Don’t let the rainy days get you down! Especially rainy Mondays.

Fall | Monday Playlist 10.6

fall

I’m not entirely sure how it is that a week can pass so quickly and seemingly without a moment to spare. This week’s distractions included no-bake cookies, a corgi puppy, happy hours and dreams of starting a paleo diet that are currently being overshadowed by aforementioned no-bake cookies….and happy hours.

No contest, really.

This weeks playlist is a mixture of chill autumn vibes and a few more upbeat recent obsessions. Enjoy!

Fashion Week Catchup // Wednesday-Thursday

My mind is actually blown that I’ve ended up in New York for fashion week this year. Luckily enough, I got here after much of the snow has subsided and have just been hitting pop up shops and promo parties like they are two-for-one Tuesdays in Nashville. MBFW is real, guys.

JK I’m actually wrapped up in an afghan, hair in a post-shower top knot and trying to downplay the sincerity of my late night hunger pains by aggressively clicking through every show available to me on style.com in real time. The glam factor is here, everyone.

Seriously though, there are a lot of shows and I don’t know how any normal person is supposed to keep up with them, so I thought I’d post a few of my favorites from fall/winter 2014 thus far. Here. We. Go.
